Since WoW Hunters are one of the more popular classes (people love those pets), I thought I'd provide a few tips for improving Hunter leveling in WoW.
1 - If you take a break to heal or regain mana, have your pet attack something nearby. This way, you are gaining XP during your down time.
2 - Bandages can be more efficient for healing a pet than using Mend Pet. It saves on mana and if the bandage is good, can actually heal more HPs.
3 - A frost trap can making taming a pet easier since it won't be fighting back while you are trying to tame it.
4 - Having a macro setup to feed your pet can make your life easier in the long run.
These tips should make playing a Hunter in World of Warcraft easier and more enjoyable. Even though it is a Horde Leveling Guide, Joanas Horde Leveling Guide is packed with lots of tips for hunters, including information on hunter pets. Another good guide is Killer Guides Hunter Guide. This guide is specifically designed for the Hunter class. It has the best Hunter pet guide that I've seen. It also has a good section on different Hunter builds in case you want to make your Hunter a little different from others.
Killer Guides also has a huge World of Warcraft Guide Bundle for $80. A little much for my taste, but it comes with 16 guides that would cost $388 if you bought them separately. Saving $300 is always a good thing and it does have lifetime access to all of the World of Warcraft guides that come out in the future. Not a bad deal, if you can afford it. It's doubtful you would need any other guides if you picked up this package.

Reviewing the Brian Kopp Guide
So I was flipping through the Brian Kopp Alliance Leveling Guide and figured I'd give a little bit more info on it. Wow, is this thing good. Not only does it break down how to quickly level an Alliance character, it does it for each different Alliance starting point. If you want to start as a human, it breaks down leveling from that perspective. Does it stop when it gets to a certain point and use the same part for each race? HECK NO! Brian Kopp's guide goes through all 70 levels with each Alliance race. Dwarf, Gnome, Night Elf, Human, etc. They are all broken down individually for easy following. Also, the map coordinates are given and the quests are linked within the guide.
This is an unbeatable resource for anyone playing as the Alliance in World of Warcraft. You can't go wrong picking up this guide. If your character has stalled out around level 30, this guide will get your juices pumping again. One thing I want to stress is that there are NO CHEATS or HACKS used. That means no risk of getting your account banned. You'll level "legally" and quickly.
I'll say it one more time. The Brian Kopp Alliance Leveling Guide is the best WoW 1 80 Leveling Guide available for Alliance characters. My main character, a human warrior, is flying through the levels now. I'm enjoying WoW more than I though I could.

Here are some other WoW guides that don't necessarily focus on leveling a character, but are good nonetheless. Some of these have already been updated with Burning Crusade content. Heck, you pick one of these up and you might be telling people in your guild about the new content before they experience it for themselves.
Dereks Gold Mastery Guide - Since Blizzard frowns (and bans) people buying gold, here is a guide that guarantees you can make 60 gold an hour or more without using hacks and without risk of getting banned. It's already updated for WotLK too since the author was part of the BC beta test. Considering that gold costs about $.33 USD a piece at most online stores (and Blizzard could possibly ban you), you'd need to make about 100 gold to pay for the guide (it's a onetime fee of $37). Based on the guide, that could be easily done in under 2 hours. I highly recommend this guide.
